Yes, you will find awesome looking stuff. But will it be uber-strong? Well... no.
I couldn't agree more. Case in point - I have spent HOURS on end searching for the last collector I need for my armor set. I can outright buy the exact same armor - except appearance - easily. I have over 13 platinum so it's not like $ is a problem. The stuff you buy just doesn't look as cool as the stuff I got from the collectors.

The easiest example for people wanting neat, different looking equipment is the dye market.

Indeed.

There ae no less than 12 topics about sigils that i have found. there are many many many of this theme also. it has to stop.
Have you ever considered that maybe they aren't doing it intentionally, but it's only seen like it from your point of view?

Why not just make a sticky from every single question that's asked and delete the rest of the same question. Eventually there will be only stickies and people won't have to post anymore YAY. -.-'

*Snipped* There is a large different between someone calling themselves "Tuggin McGroin" or "Lieky Swuck" as compared to "Toll Booth Willie" or "Dixie Flower" or "Bethany Smith". Simple as that.

Kinda funny tho. I always thought the "elitists" were the ones that wanted everything their way, complained endlessly about everyone else and that everything had to be done the same as everything else previously before it.

Or scroll down to the bottom of at least the first page of threads and see if it's been asked and discussed to death.

I read this post, and other than inflammatory, I fail to see what the point of this thread is?

Some people are not nice on forums. Thats part of life. Not everyone is going to hold your hand and tell you that you are special and one of a kind in life.

I also do not see why the rules were quoted, and Q&A forum's extra rules were bolded. They all simply *make sense*

So other than being trollish, I do not see why I should not lock this thread?

Personally, I like when people name their characters something stupid. It makes it easier to know which groups to avoid.

I love elitist posters/players makes me remember why I hate standard MMO games. And why having a group of henchmen rocks. I really can't stand people who think they're better because they know more about a game .

Same can be said about the people who consider themselves better and above others because they play (insert other game here) and that Guild Wars is just "lame" because it doesnt have or allow (insert one or all topics from OP here).

The argument goes both ways. Just depends on what side you stand on.

If people are upset that they can't name themselves "Sukmi Lontime" and run around with "The Sword of Ultimate Death" that does 999 damage in a single hit while wearing "The Armor of Invincibility" that makes it so nothing can hit them.. Then its really easy to get WOW or UO or EQ.

If there were better armors, weapons then what are available now, then there would have to be more levels added as levels determine your Health. GW wants players to enjoy the game. Not constantly worry about having to get to the next level so they can get better things so they can fight. I consider it a nice change.. and I do not know of ANY game at all, that allows for any type of inapproperiet name. I wanted to name an elementalist "Sex Kitten" But, its more then likely going to be considered innapropriet. So, I didnt do it. Oh well. Tho.. I wonder if a guild would work >

I guess I look at it from the perspective that someone named Smoky Mcpot isn't likely to take his job seriously enough to get me through a mission. I play Guild Wars because it's fun. Once it starts getting stressful, I stop wanting to play. I'm not the only person who tends to look down on people with "silly" names, but I'm willing to admit I do.

The counter to that: when I last played pvp I ended up randomly with a warrior named Worst Tank Ever. That was hilarious. I was amused. He ended up being pretty good, too. But I was willing to take the chance because it was just a pvp battle. Missions aren't "just" missions to me. My objective is to complete them and get to the next bit of story. In pvp I'd *like* to win, but the objective is to pvp, not to emerge victorious time and time again. I'm a monk. I die first, sometimes second in pvp. Missions take hours, pvp battles take minutes. There's less investment for me, so I can afford to be more relaxed.

As for people who ask questions, well...I tend to be helpful in a vague way. If you ask me where a mission point is, I might tell you it's south by southeast from here. I'll tell you what it's called and probably tell you what to look out for on the way. I don't agree with handholding. It's unfathomable the number of people who have ascended...people who don't even read quest dialogues or watch cutscenes. I had one ascended guy in the Ring of Fire islands ask me where the citadel was. I said the Southern Shiverpeaks. He asked me where the Shiverpeaks were. C'mon. That's just lazy and stupid, I'm sorry. It's mentioned dozens of times in cutscenes and dialogue, and if memory serves several missions are almost exclusively populated with "Shiverpeak" mobs.

I love to help newbies and low level players. I like to help them do missions, help them explore, give them hints on quests. I *don't* like having to explain where you get both attribute point quests because you're too lazy to explore (which is, presumably, why the ENTIRE system is set up the way it is) and too lazy to read (again, this is your fault if you're a serial clicker). I've given hints to other healing monks as to how they might tackle their shadow selves. I don't just tell them "use these skills and beat yourself into a bloody monastic pulp". I actually had one player tell me off and ignore me because I wouldn't drag him through the ascension missions. What the hell? I answered questions for you once, then you friend list me and decide I'm your mom?

I respect your point of view on elitism and snobbishness, but there's another perspective to consider. Guild Wars has a lot of content; a lot to explore, a lot to read and discover, a lot of secrets and hidden goodies waiting to be found and unlocked. If you want a strategy guide so you can have all the Pokemon without having to explore the world and do your own damn research, you should play a single-player console game and leave me alone. If you actually enjoy finding things, exploring with friends, or experimenting simply for the sake of knowledge...well, Guild Wars is an ideal game for you. What some people consider curiosity I consider laziness. It's not like you're PAYING for your time on Guild Wars. So what I consider attempting to goad players into experiencing Guild Wars fully and getting the most out of their experience, others consider rude or condescending.

thank god i`m not alone.
always been a single gamer,so this online business isgoing to be fresh fields.

but every game i play i usually spend more time examining and exploring than rushing to the end nasty/geezer/geezerette.
if theres a sweet wrapper on the floor in a dungeon 3000 miles squared then i`ll find it.

but have to say i dont agree with going by a name tag to assume the persons maturity.
at my age i feel daft going for fantasy/fictional names,i tend to go comical or red dwarfish.

This is the best forum to come to when looking for something about GW. That dose not give us the right to act like asses.

That being said, I hardly ever see a senior member being mean for no damn reason. Now Ive seen them in arguments (that can get pretty heated), but it takes two to tango. People get pissed (I know I have) thats all that can be said. I find that when people really feel they are truly right, most angels of both arguments can then be seen. Then it is up to the reader to decide who is more right.

As long as people refrain from making personal atacks, I see no problem in heated arguments.

I have a feeling that most of these "elitist" posters know quite abit about what they are talking about. If your feelings are hurt in an argument, Im sorry, but there is nothing to be done about it.

Except complain ad nauseam to infinitum about it simply for lack of anything more productive to do. Personally I see an OCEAN of threads in gladiator and guild areas that need some TLC.

Stop the madness. Stamp out this mindless mindlessness.
